F Mixolydian is the 5th mode of the B♭ major scale. Both share the same 7 notes — Mixolydian starts on the 5th degree (F) instead of the root (B♭).
The only difference is the 7th degree. F Mixolydian has a minor 7th (E♭), while F major has a major 7th (E). That flat 7th removes the leading tone and gives Mixolydian a more relaxed, bluesy feel compared to major.
