G Mixolydian is the 5th mode of the C major scale. Both share the same 7 notes — Mixolydian starts on the 5th degree (G) instead of the root (C).
The only difference is the 7th degree. G Mixolydian has a minor 7th (F), while G major has a major 7th (F♯). That flat 7th removes the leading tone and gives Mixolydian a more relaxed, bluesy feel compared to major.
